More Than an Alphabet Coloring Book

“Letters of Light to Live By” introduces children to the alphabet through joyful characters, enriched vocabulary, and powerful, faith-inspired affirmations. Each letter encourages children to recognize their God-given light and potential while developing confidence, character, emotional well-being, and a love of learning.

The book was inspired by the intersection of author Chandra Simmons’ experiences as a mother of three, her Master of Science in Behavioral Science and Health Education from Columbia University, and her professional work in health education and community engagement. Throughout her career, Chandra has been passionate about intentionally curating events and experiences that bring people together, strengthen communities, and create meaningful opportunities for families to connect, learn, and flourish. Chandra witnessed firsthand how quickly children absorb language, imitate what they hear, and begin forming beliefs about who they are. Knowing that early exposure to rich vocabulary and encouraging messages can support literacy, cognitive development, confidence, and resilience, Chandra wanted to create something that would teach children more than their ABCs. She wanted to give them meaningful words they could understand, speak, believe, and eventually grow into.

Each character of “Letters of Light to Live By” comes with a unique affirmation designed to nurture a child’s vocabulary, identity, faith, and sense of possibility. Children can color the letters, discover new words, repeat their affirmations, and enjoy meaningful moments of creativity and conversation.
